Ok. Lawn mushrooms are all very well and good, but they're BO-O-Oring! I mentioned micro-habitats earlier, and I guess I found one. Here's Auriscalpium vulgare which I haven't seen for about fifteen years, and then only in the high pine forests, since it grows ONLY on pine cones. Zoom in and you can see that it has teeth, rather than gills. It always feels like a treat to find this little guy (for one thing, they're rediculously hard to spot).
